Congress President's Message

33rd World Buiatrics Congress

Congress President's Message

Dear Colleagues and Participiants;

Veterinary Medicine education in Türkiye began in 1842. Today, veterinarians from 30 different faculties are actively practicing across the country. Türkiye has a high production potential, with approximately 16.8 million cattle, 44 million sheep, 10.8 million goats, and 160,000 buffalo. The increase in modern farms and food enterprises in recent decades is a reflection of the changes in our country.

This great potential and advancements in ruminant health have led us to focus our efforts in this direction, resulting in the establishment of the Farm Animal Veterinary Medicine Association (FAVMA) in 2014. As FAVMA, an organization that hosts numerous national and international congresses and training programs in Türkiye, we are thrilled to welcome you to Istanbul for the World Buiatrics Congress. This will be the 33rd WBC since its inception in 1960 and the first time it is held in Türkiye. A true world city, Istanbul ranks among the top tourist destinations globally.

The main theme of the congress will focus on cattle health, diseases, and management, while covering other topics related to ruminants. Alongside ruminant health, the congress will also aim to address issues impacting human and environmental health.. Therefore, we aim for “Global Solutions for Animals & Environment” in the congress content. We hope that the careful planning of the scientific program will ensure that all participants will be fully satisfied after the Congress. We also anticipate that every attendee will enjoy the unique experience of being in Istanbul—a city that bridges Asia and Europe, rich in history, natural beauty, gastronomy, and culture. You can extend your enjoyable experience by exploring Türkiye’s historical and natural wonders through pre- or post-congress tours. Enjoy the city of Istanbul and Turkish hospitality at 33rd WBC-Istanbul-2026!

We hope the congress will showcase global advancements in cattle and ruminant health and disease, offering colleagues valuable insights and enriched experiences that benefit both participants and the industry.

We warmly invite you to Istanbul for the 33rd WBC and look forward to welcoming you with great excitement.
